I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Violent crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. You may have observed the recent media release around the incident on Westdale Lane West, Nottingham on 21st October 2025.
On Wednesday 22nd October 2025, the police released the following:
"A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Mapperley. We were called to an address in Westdale Lane West at 10.07pm last night (21 October) following concerns for a person’s safety. Emergency services attended and a woman, in her twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is now being treated as a murder investigation, and our detectives are urging witnesses to come forward with any information they may have. A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Scenes remain in place at Westdale Lane West and Woodborough Road. Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, who is overseeing the investigation, said: “Our deepest condolences are with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time, and they are being supported by specially trained officers. “A team of detectives are working at pace to progress this investigation and we are urging anyone who was in the area before, during, and after the incident - or anyone who may have recorded CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage - to please get in touch. “Officers will be carrying out additional patrols in the area and residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while our inquiries continue. “I’d like to reassure residents that we believe this is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.” Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 677 of 21 October 2025, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111"
