BUSY DAY IN THE COMMUNITY

🎃🔥 PCSO Ashton joined PC Gilburn and Fire Safety Officer Adele Chapman-Jones at Tibshelf Secondary School today to talk with students about staying safe during Halloween and Bonfire Night.
We shared important advice on how to stay safe at home — not just during spooky season, but all year round - this touched on:

🏠 Doorstep Safety Tips:

Official visitors should always make an appointment.

Use a door viewer or window to check who’s outside.

If you open the door, use a chain or bar for added security.

Always verify a caller’s identity by contacting their organisation directly — don’t rely on numbers they provide.
Avoid dealing with doorstep traders. Derby City and County Councils have lists of trusted traders.

We’ll continue spreading the word on seasonal safety as we head toward the end of the month.

Later in the day, the team visited Blackwell Community Centre during a lively bingo session with local residents. 
Great to see the community coming together — and always a pleasure to chat with everyone.
