A Welwyn Garden City man has been jailed for more than seven years after a stabbing in the town. Aaron Douglas, 23, of Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City was sentenced at Luton Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 21 October) after pleading guilty to 16 offences, which he was initially put on trial for in May. He was sentenced to seven years and two months’ imprisonment with a further three years to be served on licence. His crimes were: At around 7.30pm on Monday 26 February 2024, the victim – who was aged in his 30s - was purchasing dinner for his family at a fish and chips shop on Hall Grove. Douglas followed his victim down the street, wearing a mask. When the victim attempted to get into his car, Douglas stabbed him multiple times. The victim sustained several GBH level injuries to his abdomen and right forearm. Douglas made off before police were called and later used a knife to slash tyres on multiple vehicles in Panshanger and the Little Gannet area. Officers were able to forensically link him to the crime via a discarded energy drink can he’d left behind. Two days later, on 28 February, Douglas then threatened to kill another victim - a man in his 60s. Douglas was arrested for multiple offences on Wednesday 28 February and remanded into custody, where he has remained since.
