Bicycle thefts, phone snatch and scam awareness |
||
|
Hi All,
I know you have been inundated by messages for today, apologies for that. Just offering some advice regarding bicycles and phone safety. In my recent patrols around the Aberdare gardens area I have been told there is a problem with bikes being stolen from properties. I would recommend use of a secure bike lock and also getting the bicycle registered and marked on Bike Register so it can be tracked and also deter thieves: https://www.bikeregister.com/ .
For Phones, always be aware of your surroundings and don't leave your phone unattended. Phone snatchers now tend to ride on 2 wheels (e-bike, scooter etc) and attempt to grab phones out of your hands so also be wary of stretching your phone out on public roads.
After the most recent ward panel meeting, concerns were expressed regarding issues with scams. I would advise everyone to be very careful when answering phone calls from unknown numbers, pay attention to the tone of voice used and topics discussed, If financial details or personal details are requested be wary and hang-up if this is unsolicited.

Kind Regards,
PCSO Francis-Cornibert
