I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear resident
It has been brought to our attention that there has been an increase of inconsiderate parking outside the school , in particular on the School Keep clear Zig Zag lines and pavements ( In front of the electricity sub station ).
Please see the below message from the local Policing team which is self explanatory. Dear Parent/Guardian,
We write on behalf of South Wales Police and Gower Neighbourhood Policing Team in relation to ongoing parking problems outside the school premises.
We would like to remind you of the importance of adhering to the ‘No Stopping’ zones leading to the entrances of the school. These zones are clearly marked out in the form of Yellow Zig-zag lines. We would also ask that you park considerately ensuring that you are not obstructing neighbouring driveways or indeed pavements in particular in front of the electric sub station.
Please bear in mind that yellow markings painted outside schools are there for the Safety of your Child, in order for them to get to and from school in a safe manner. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of parking safely outside schools. Yellow line restrictions are painted outside schools in order to prevent vehicles being parked in a dangerous, inconsiderate or obstructive manner. This helps create a safer environment for the children/pedestrians while attending to and from school. Therefore you are reminded that motorists must not wait, park, or stop to set down or pick up on yellow School KEEP CLEAR Zig Zag lines.
Overall we have been assured that most parents/guardians park in a sensible and safe manner, however there are a minority that continue to put the safety of the children/pedestrians at risk. We must remind you that South Wales Police take a zero tolerance policy with regards to illegal parking outside schools, therefore if individuals do insist on parking on the KEEP CLEAR Zig Zag lines or any restricted areas outside the school and are caught doing so, local officers along with Local Authority parking attendants will report offenders by means of a Fixed Penalty notice.
As always, the children’s safety is of paramount importance, thank you for your continued support.
