I wanted to provide an update regarding the theft of motor vehicles, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. We would like to make you aware of a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred in GLEBE ROAD N3 area between 00:00 hours and 06:55 hours. During this time, an unknown suspect gained entry to a parked vehicle and removed items from inside.
Please take a few moments to review the following crime prevention advice to help protect your vehicle and belongings:
🚗 Vehicle Security Tips: • Always lock your vehicle and close all windows, even if parked on your driveway. • Remove valuables or place them out of sight, including bags, sat-navs, and charging cables. • Park in well-lit areas or near CCTV whenever possible. • Use steering wheel locks or other visible deterrents. • Consider installing a dashcam or motion-sensor light near where you park. • Report any suspicious activity immediately to police.
🛵 For Mopeds & Motorcycles: • Always secure your moped with a strong chain and lock attached to an immovable object. • Use a disc lock to prevent the wheels from moving. • Park in well-lit and busy areas whenever possible. • Consider fitting a tracker or alarm to help recover the vehicle if stolen. • Keep a note of your vehicle identification number (VIN) and any unique markings.
We encourage anyone who sees suspicious behaviour around vehicles to report it immediately to the police via 101, or 999 in an emergency. You can also report information anonymously to Crimestoppers.
We know that people can be concerned about the personal and financial impact of having their vehicle stolen, which is why we will pursue and arrest those who break the law. Please consider taking the following steps to keep your vehicle safe: Check that your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked. Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home and away from your front door. If you have a keyless entry vehicle, keep the key well away from the vehicle while at home and turn off wireless signals on your fob when its not being used. Consider putting the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check that it is still working every few months. Park your vehicle in a private garage if you can. If you don’t have access to one, try to park in a well –lit open space. Try to use public car parks that are part of the police approved Park Mark safer parking scheme. Secure your number plates with tamper resistant screws to avoid them being stolen and used by others.
