I/We have been speaking to residents where these offences have occurred and checked CCTV at the locations, and we have targeted patrols in the area at key times.
GENERAL ADVICE
Keep your home safe during the darker nights.
The nights are getting darker again and it’s a time of year when we typically see a rise in burglaries.
Criminals often take advantage of the cover of darkness and empty homes, so it’s important to stay one step ahead and make sure your property is protected.
Lock your windows and doors, even if you’re only stepping out for a short time.
Close your curtains or blinds when you leave the house to keep valuables out of sight.
Use light timers to give the impression someone is home, especially if you’re out during the evening.
Keep car keys away from doors and windows, particularly if you have a keyless entry vehicle.
Criminals can use signal-boosting devices to steal cars parked outside. A Faraday pouch is a simple way to block these signals and reduce the risk.
GOOD NEWS
We have worked closely with the staff members from a shop on HOBS MOAT ROAD, and we have now successfully arrested a prolific shoplifter who has been targeting the shop on numerous occasions. The shoplifter was caught shortly after a call has been received from the shop and the stolen goods were recovered. The shoplifter has now been sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment.
Please remain vigilant and report anything suspicious in your area by calling 999-emergencies, 101 non-emergencies or online.
Kind Regards, PC 27570 GILVRAY and PCSO 31795 BEARD.
