What’s been happening? Good news We are already aware of a major issue with the anti-social use of off-road motorbikes throughout the area. In the last week we and neighbouring teams have found an increase in these motorbikes, which are either outstanding stolen vehicle, abandoned and some even burnt out. We located three motorbikes that have all been identified as stolen, one of which in a robbery with a knife described as being ‘arm-length’. This was also located next to these bikes. We have seized this to take this weapon off the streets and have sent it to be forensically analysed to identify a suspect.
We have continued with making further arrests including a male for Controlling and Coercive behaviour and Non-fatal Strangulation, the last of which was committed while he was on bail not to contact the victim.
We arrested another male for making threats with an offensive weapon after he picked up a plank of wood and the victim feared they were going to be hit. This will be going to CPS for advice around a charge.
In the week we were joined by a Special Constable who volunteers to work certain shifts with our team. She made her first ever arrest which was for Rape. Two further domestic offenders were arrested in the last few days. One male handed himself in for Harassment. The other was arrested after we responded to a domestic in progress. He was brought in for: Common Assault, Assault with Injury, Violence to Secure Entry, and Possession of Class B- Cannabis.
In other news, the Council have secured a closure order at a shop in Castle Bromwich that has repeatedly been found to be selling illicit vapes and cigarettes. Currently, no customers are allowed on site, only the owners and emergency services.
A community resolution was given to a local young offender targeting stores in Smithswood.
Officers helped locate a high-risk missing person and offered safeguarding and referrals to assist going forward.
The PCSO’s have carried out a Speed watch on the Water Orton Road with our Residents Community Speed watch team. The PCSO’s have also carried out a speed Watch on Auckland Drive in Smithswood following complaints received from residents. As it is very quickly approaching Halloween and Fireworks night the PCSO’s have also been visiting all the local shops that may be selling Fireworks, Eggs, Flour and Vapes across the three areas in Smiths Wood, Castle Bromwich and Kingshurst delivering posters to display and a gentle reminder of who they are selling to.
Dates for your diary Your local PCSO’s will be attending Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens on Wednesday 29th October 2025 at 1.00pm and 2.30pm for a cuppa with a copper.
