Tunbridge Wells, October Half Term Activities. Catapult Amnesty. |
||
The Child Centred Policing Team from Tunbridge Wells Police Station, will be working with partners to engage young people in positive activities during the half term. Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd October we will be running a catapult amnesty. We have seen a rise in reports of youths using catapults in the area, over recent months. We will be highlighting the dangers of this and how they could receive a criminal record for choosing to use a catapult. Working with us on this project are The Rural Task Force for Kent Police, who are dealing with issue across the county. The Family Hub, will be looking at the risks of injury and offering first aid. RSPCA, will be attending to talk about animal welfare and also, The West Kent Catapult Club, who are a local team, who wish to keep the sport safe and accessible to all. They are against the use of catapult by young people in the community. We are giving young people the option to hand over a catapult, in return they will get the opportunity to attend a session with the catapult club. We hope this will show them how they can join the club and positively engage in the sport in a controlled environment, safely and without harm to animals, property and local communities. Here is the West Kent Catapult Club, talking about their club and the affects youths using catapults in the community has on them: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj9wzk913peo#global-navigation-more-menu
