In regard to the recent concerns raised by Local Community about illegal E-bikes, please read below.
We understand your concerns raised regarding E-Bike Riders, we at the Met take every complaint seriously and we are working towards solving the matter. This issue has been on the rise as we can see more E-Bikes on the street these days. Some of them we have to admit are not following the Electric motor use regulations. We do issue fines whenever E Bike riders are seen riding on the pavement or jumping the red light, E-Bikes are also seized by the police on a regular basis, However the numbers of E-Bikes are increasing every day.
Indeed we are limited on dealing with E-Bike riders when it comes to a chase due to hazard and public safety. There are traffic ops conducted aiming at illegal E-Bikes and E-Scooters across London.
