Introducing your dedicated Piccadilly Gardens neighbourhood policing team |
||
Good morning, I am writing to you to formally introduce the new team you have no doubt seen out about tackling issues in Piccadilly Gardens and the surrounding areas over the recent weeks. Led by Chief Inspector Michael Tachauer, Inspector Kam Hare and made up of 8 neighbourhood officers and myself, we’ve made 345 arrests since the teams was brought in. This is largely thanks to the 200+ submissions of intelligence which have been received by members of the community like you.
Our main goal is to continue problem-solving to tackle the biggest issues in Piccadilly Gardens, and we’re doing this alongside partners including Manchester City Council to find long-term solutions. We’ve seen real progress being made in terms of safeguarding, enforcement, and GMP’s wider understanding of the issues and concerns our communities are facing. Since March, we have seen great results as well as deterrence, including 345 arrests, 282 charges/ cautions, 517 stop searches, 37 weapons seized, and large amounts of Class A and Class B drugs taken off the streets. Manchester City Council has also announced their plans to put the “Gardens” back into Piccadilly Gardens, by improving the look, feel and safety around the area with more officers, better CCTV, improved lighting and new spaces and provisions for family friendly events.
Please feel free to stop your local officers for a chat and continue to report any concerns to us via 101 or our website. Always dial 999 in an emergency. Thank you Sergeant Jon Wyatt | ||
