Diwali is being celebrated on Monday 20th October 2025 which is also called Deepavali or Deepawali, is the Hindu festival of lights, with variations celebrated in other Indian religions such as Jainism and Sikhism. It symbolises the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It will include Diya and lighting, home decoration, shopping, fireworks, puja (prayers), gifts, feast, and sweets, families gather together. Please be understanding that there will be lots of fireworks which might extend in to unsociable hours as this is a big festival and is celebrated like British celebrations of Bonfire Night and New Years Eve.

During the celebrations we want to just give some simple crime prevention measures so people can celebrate safely.

Install an outside dusk till dawn light so that intruders can’t approach without being seen.

Lock doors and windows when going out. If possible, install CCTV or a burglary alarm.

Keep jewellery and gold secure by using a safe secured to a wall or floor or any other security measures.

Be discreet when wearing jewellery in public.

When out and about-be aware of your surroundings stay alert when walking along the road for criminals who might use bikes/mopeds or e-scooters to snatch phones/valuables.
