Theft from Motor Vehicles

Dear Resident

Between 14/10/25 20:00 hrs and 15/10/25 06:00 hrs, a lock was drilled from a van and tools stolen in Norwich Close.

Crime Number: 41/97972/25.

On 15/10/25 between 02:30 hrs and 03:15 hrs, damage was made to a drivers van door and tools stolen in Exeter Close.

Crime Number: 41/98098/25.

On 15/10/25 between 20:30 hrs and 21:30 hrs, windows were smashed on a Kia Soul car in Coventry Close and tools also stolen.

Crime Number: 41/98210/25.

If you have any information relating to this crime you can contact the police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the crime number.

Wherever possible, try not to keep tools in vans. We fully appreciate it’s not always easy or convenient to remove them, but it’s the best way to keep them more secure. If removing them is really not an option, you could also consider installing a good quality tool safe and additional locks, to add an extra level of protection.”

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
