PCDA/DHEP South Wales Police Student Constable Campaign October 2025 (Police Officer) – Open for applications 13th October – 27th October
Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) This is a 3-year professional degree apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, you will achieve a Degree in Professional Policing Practice this route means that you have the opportunity to earn while you learn and achieve a degree.
Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP): The Degree Holder Entry Programme is for those who already hold a degree in any subject area but want to join the force. This is a two-year programme combining on-the-job practical learning and operational competence with academic learning. Upon completion, successful candidates will also achieve a Diploma in Professional Policing Practice. The force covers all course fees relating to this entry route.

Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) Open for applications 13th October – 3rd November
To be eligible for this route, candidates must have three years allied experience within the last five years from the date of application in one of the following sectors: - - Fire - Ambulance - Special Constable - Police Community Support Officer - Custody Detention Officers - Coast Guard - Public Service Centre - Cyber/digital and financial fraud/crimes - Specialist roles in banking and financial sector - Digital Investigations - Specialist investigative roles within the policing sector - Social work - Youth work - Social care work - Justice and law enforcement - Local Authority experience involving close working relationships with police
The route is a Level 5, non-accredited learning programme that combines theoretical and work-based learning delivered internally by South Wales Police. The duration of the programme is 2 years and officers will not achieve any qualification at the end of their probationary period although there is an option to accredit in year 3 if eligible.

Degree in Professional Policing Entry Route (PPD) Open for applications 13th October – 4th November
To be eligible to apply to our DIPP programme, applicants must be in receipt or due to attain (by end of academic period 25/26) their Degree in Professional Policing. The PEQF (Policing Education Qualifications Framework) was introduced as a professional framework for the training of police officers and staff and is based upon a new modern curriculum aligned with the education levels set in England and Wales which supports the development of policing as a profession. The professional framework is extended to specialist routes into policing and we are offering an exciting opportunity to enter our Degree Holder Entry Programme.

Salary The starting salary for all police constable roles (irrespective of the entry route) is £29,907.
Special Constable (Volunteer Police Officer) Open for applications 13th October- 3rd November
We are also currently open for applications for the role of Special Constable.
Special Constables are volunteers who have the same powers, same equipment, same uniform, and attend the same calls as regular Police Constables. As a Special Constable you will provide a vital link between the regular force and your local communities. You will play a crucial role in helping to deliver the policing priorities for South Wales. You will be valued, and it will be a rewarding, challenging and enjoyable experience.
