Glossop SNT - School Engagement/Lunchtime Drop-in Session
PCSO Buller of the Glossop Youth Engagement Team (YET) and Cadet Leader Brenda Smith completed a lunchtime drop-in session at New Mills Secondary School, Church Lane, New Mills today, Tuesday 14th October.
We were there to promote Cadet Recruitment for the Glossop Cohort. As the deadline for applications approaches at the end of October, we kindly urge interested individuals to submit their applications as soon as possible. We look forward to welcoming new members to our program. Find out more about becoming a cadet or cadet leader here: https://orlo.uk/cadets_AANr7
It is also ‘Hate Crime Awareness Week’ this week - So our aim today was to display information about what a hate crime is, what are the monitored strands and the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) definition, including learning about the effects hate crime (and hate incidents) have on victims and the community at large. 🔴 Definition of a Hate Crime - A hate crime is when a Criminal Offence is committed which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by hostility or prejudice on personal characteristics (monitored strands).
And lastly it was also a great opportunity to complete some Derbyshire Talking Youth Surveys with the young people during their lunchtime today.
Thank you from the team to Brenda Smith (Cadet leader), also the school Senior Leadership Team and staff for accommodating today's visit and especially to those students who engaged with the team this afternoon.
