Hate Crime Awareness Week 2025 |
||
This week, we stand united to raise awareness about hate crime — a deeply harmful act that targets individuals or communities based on race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity. Hate crime is not just a criminal offence — it’s a violation of dignity, safety, and the right to live free from fear.
Hate crimes can take many forms:
• Verbal abuse or threats • Physical assault • Damage to property • Online harassment • Intimidation in public spaces
Greater Manchester Police remain committed to tackling hate crime head-on. Through proactive policing, community engagement, and victim support, we continue to build trust and resilience across our diverse communities.
This week, PC Riaz visited the Muslim Youth Foundation in Manchester to speak directly with worshippers about recognising and reporting hate crime. The session was heartfelt, informative, and empowering — with open dialogue and shared commitment to safety and solidarity.
Worshippers were encouraged to report incidents, seek support, and stand together against intolerance. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we’re proud to see such strong community spirit.
A special thank you to the Muslim Youth Foundation management for their warm welcome and for facilitating this important conversation. Your partnership helps us reach hearts and minds where it matters most.
Let’s keep the momentum going. If you or someone you know has experienced hate crime, please report it. Together, we can make Greater Manchester safer for everyone.
