Women’s Walk and Talk : Thursday 16th October 19:00
Women and girls in Hitchin are being invited to join a ‘Walk and Talk’ event, hosted by PCSO Hannah Moss. It has been organised as part of the constabulary’s ongoing work to tackle MVAWG (male violence against women and girls) with simultaneous walks being held across the county.
The initiative is part of our ongoing work to help make women and girls feel safer and an opportunity to speak to officers to discuss any concerns during a reflective walk in support of The Knife Angel, which is currently in Welwyn Garden City. The Knife Angel is an amazing national anti-violence monument, and its visit will be used to launch a month-long campaign to educate local communities about the dangers of knife crime and violent crime.
During the walk we will speak about HollieGuard and Ask For Angela.
HollieGuard is a personal safety app which has many reassuring features such as tracking your movements and alerting your emergency contacts if something is wrong. The ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme encourages people who feel unsafe or vulnerable on a night out to get help from bar staff. Anyone in such a situation can get help from bar staff by simply asking to speak to “Angela."
For more information about HollieGuard visit hollieguard.com For more information about Ask For Angela, visit herts.police.uk
We are particularly keen to hear views on safety at night-time but even if you don’t hold strong views, we hope you will come along anyway to enjoy the chance a safe place to exercise together and maybe make new friends.
