On the Forest Beat team we have received complaints about the manner of parking of people attending football matches at the leisure centre on Measham Road, Oakthorpe. This morning I located the two vehicles pictured, parked on the zig zags for the zebra crossing. To be clear, this manner of parking is not acceptable. The zig zag lines are there for the protection of the crossing and so people using it have a clear line of sight.
As a beat team we will be monitoring the situation very closely and will be issuing Traffic Offence Reports (tickets) where appropriate, if the obstruction is considered dangerous you may also just find your vehicle is recovered. Parking on the pavement on the opposite side of the zig zags also constitutes an offence. Not just of parking on the zig zags but also an unnecessary obstruction to the pavement. Whilst we are aware parking at the leisure centre is limited that is no excuse for parking in an unsafe manner.
