Local Priority: Violence against Women and Girls

I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Yesterday, officers from West Thornton, Bensham Manor and Thornton Heath Safer Neighbourhoods Teams conducted a proactive operation in order to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls in our area. We utilised a combination of plain clothes and uniformed officers to spot perpetrators, intervening when inappropriate behaviour was witnessed. This was an intelligence-led operations, focussed around Thornton Heath Ponds, Thornton Heath Clock Tower and surrounding as that is where intelligence suggests this type of offending is most prevalent.
