Good Afternoon Everyone,
As you will have noticed, for the past 9 days Police Officers have been both static outside a number of synagogues and patrolling the wider area in vehicles. This has been in response to the horrific attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Thursday 2nd October.
From today, Saturday 11th October, the way in which these officers are utilised is changing slightly. Whilst there will still be an equal number of officers on patrol in the area (around 30 around the clock), this will now change from static points to a mixture of foot patrol and mobile patrol in vehicles. This will allow more locations and areas to receive an increased Police presence, whilst still providing a visible deterrent and an ability to respond quickly to any incoming incidents.
I would also like to take this opportunity to share my thanks, on behalf of all the officers who have been involved, to the community who have been incredibly kind and generous. Whether that be the bringing of umbrellas when it rained last week, to hot drinks/snacks being offered, or simply just the friendly hello's we have received from so many people. It has been truly appreciated, at a time when many officers have been working long hours without any days off.
If anyone has any question, feel free to reply to this message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Kind Regards,
Gary.
