Hate crime can include verbal abuse, threats, harassment, physical assault, or damage to property — as long as the victim or anyone else believes it was motivated by prejudice.

Key Points:

If someone believes an incident was motivated by prejudice or hostility towards any of these characteristics — even if it's just a perception — it can be classified as a hate crime.

Reporting these incidents helps protect communities and ensures that appropriate action is taken.
