Hammersmith and Fulham borough police update on crime
Crime rates in Hammersmith and Fulham showed a general downward trend in early 2025, with significant decreases in theft from vehicles (47%), violent crime (13.6%), and residential burglaries (9.5%). However, the latest available crime statistics for the year show an increase in violence and sexual offences, with 6,447 offences reported in 2025, a 4.1% rise from 2024. New CCTV technology, including AI-powered crime detection and live facial recognition, is being deployed to help reduce crime.
Recent Crime Trends Decreasing Crime Rates: Early 2025 saw an overall reduction in crime, with notable drops in vehicle theft, violent crime, and residential burglaries. Increasing Violence and Sexual Offences: Despite the overall trend, the number of violence and sexual offence incidents increased in 2025 compared to the previous year.
New Crime Prevention Initiatives Advanced CCTV: The Met Police and the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF) are investing in new CCTV technology, including AI-powered detection, live facial recognition at crime hotspots, and cameras with intervention tools like spotlights and speakers.
Safer Parks: A significant investment of £1 million is being made to install more CCTV in parks to address increased reports of assaults and anti-social behaviour.
Drone Trials: Drones are being explored as a tool to combat fly-tipping and support police operations.
