These incidents have involved damage to sheds/containers and the theft of tools and gardening equipment. Weโre asking all allotment holders to remain vigilant and take the following steps to help protect your property: ๐ Secure Your Shed Use strong padlocks and consider fitting hasp and staple locks with anti-tamper screws.Reinforce doors and hinges with coach bolts or security screws.Install a battery-powered shed alarm or motion sensor light.When you have finished with your tools, put them away and re-lock your shed. Remember, thieves may use tools to break into sheds if left lying around. Consider fitting ground anchors to secure larger items to.๐ธ Mark and Record Your Tools Use a UV pen or engraving tool to mark tools with your postcode and house number.Take photos of valuable items and keep a record of serial numbers.Register your tools for free on www.immobilise.com. You can register property serial numbers, upload photos and record items as stolen. This will increase your chance of getting them back if they are recovered by the police.๐ Be a Good Neighbour Keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report anything unusual to the police.Join or form an allotment watch group to share information and support each other.๐ช Donโt Leave Valuables Behind Take tools and equipment home where possible, especially overnight.Avoid storing fuel or expensive items in sheds.๐ Report Incidents Promptly If you see suspicious behaviour or are a victim of crime, report it immediately via 101 or online at www.police.uk.In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.Letโs work together to keep our community safe.
