Women’s Walk and Talk : Thursday 16th October 7:00pm |
|||||||
Dear Resident,
It has been organised as part of the constabulary’s ongoing work to tackle MVAWG (male violence against women and girls). The initiative is part of our ongoing work to help make women and girls feel safer and an opportunity to speak to officers to discuss any concerns during a reflective walk in support of The Knife Angel, which is currently in Welwyn Garden City. The Knife Angel is a towering, 27-foot-tall, winged figure, crafted from over 100,000 confiscated knives and blades, is not just a striking piece of art – it’s a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of violent crime.
During the walk we will speak about HollieGuard and Ask For Angela. HollieGuard is a personal safety app which has many reassuring features such as tracking your movements and alerting your emergency contacts if something is wrong. The ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme encourages people who feel unsafe or vulnerable on a night out to get help from bar staff. Anyone in such a situation can get help from bar staff by simply asking to speak to “Angela." For more information about HollieGuard visit hollieguard.com For more information about Ask For Angela, visit herts.police.uk We are particularly keen to hear views on safety at night-time but even if you don’t hold strong views, we hope you come along anyway to enjoy the chance of a safe place to exercise together and maybe make new friends. Date: 16 OCTOBER 2025 Time: 1900 hrs Start/End location: OUTSIDE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, HIGH STREET, STEVENAGE The walk is approx. 45 minutes – we will be walking the proposed Safer Route along the HIGH STREET, STEVENAGE SG1 3DB Information about the event:
