Shoplifter Caught in Action
This week, officers responded swiftly to reports of a suspected shoplifter on the beat. The individual was observed by store security acting suspiciously and attempting to conceal several items. On arrival, officers detained the suspect and recovered the stolen goods. Following a search and further inquiries, the offender was arrested and processed for theft offences. Thanks to the vigilance of retail staff and the prompt response of attending officers, the incident was resolved efficiently, and the property was returned to the store. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of partnership work between businesses and local policing teams to deter and detect retail crime.
Highcross Student Night
Officers and PCSOs were deployed to Highcross for the annual Student Night event. The evening saw a large turnout of students attending late-night shopping and promotional activities. The policing team maintained a high-visibility presence throughout the event, engaging with attendees and ensuring public safety. Engagement with students was well received, and crime prevention advice was provided regarding personal safety and safeguarding valuables in busy public spaces.
School Patrols – Parking Issues and General Visibility
Throughout the week, the neighbourhood team conducted patrols around several local schools in response to ongoing concerns about parking and road safety during pick-up and drop-off times. PCSOs engaged with parents and guardians to remind them of the importance of safe and considerate parking, particularly avoiding obstruction of driveways, crossings, and school entrances.
