AI Prank

Staffordshire Police would like to bring to your attention a recent trend among the public involving the use of artificial intelligence (AI). 

Some people have been creating and sending AI-generated images depicting a homeless person, or other persons such as workmen, who have supposedly entered their home and are refusing to leave. They will then send them to family or friends in an attempt to “prank” them.

Local police have had an increase in calls related to these incidents, which are in fact hoaxes. We want to prevent this from becoming a wider viral trend so we kindly request everyone to refrain from participating in such activity and also ask all parents and guardians to monitor their children's phone activity and ensure appropriate safety and privacy measures are in place when they are online.
