Dear Resident,  

The evenings are beginning to draw in and it will soon be dark by 1700 hours.

This is the time of year when Burglaries tend to increase across the Borough and the timeframe for this is usually weekdays between 1600 – 2100 hours.

In-case you are new to the area, (In 2024) suspect(s) were gaining access into the rear garden, climbing up onto a flat roof/even a conservatory roof and are forcing entry.

Suspects may also be entering this way hoping to bypass the house alarm and in one or two of the Burglaries, the control panels (for the alarm) were stolen.   

If you live in a substantial house, please alarm the upstairs floors in your house, even while you are all downstairs. Your alarm company should be able to sort this for you. 

Do not leave your house in darkness between 1600 - 2100 hours.

You could install sensor alarms in your rear garden, so your house alarm will trigger before suspects reach your house.

Improve your garden security. Install trellis on top of your fence panels, to increase the height and plant prickly bushes, to keep intruders out.

Install sensor lights at the front and rear of your house.

Please use timer switches with external Christmas lights, so they are switched on, before you come home from work/shopping. 

Do not keep a large amount of cash or jewellery in your home. 

Please remain vigilant and if you see any suspicious persons/vehicles, please report this to Police immediately via 999 (emergency) or 101 – Police non-emergency. 

Please note, that the Burglary figures for Emerson Park SNT remain lower than our neighbouring wards.
