Weekly Update from your local Bablake NPT
Dear Members
Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team.
What’s Been Happening
Burglaries and Vehicle Crime
We have received no reports of burglaries or vehicle crime this week on Bablake which is excellent news, although please don't let this make you become complacent about home and vehicle security. As technology progresses, offenders change their methods too. Parcel Theft
We have received a report of a parcel being stolen off BIRMINGHAM ROAD. Unfortunately, as we approach the festive season, we do see an increase in parcel thefts. To reduce the risk, we would advise:
Awareness
On 30th September a phone snatch was reported on ROTHERHAM ROAD. This type of theft is common in busy areas like city centres, transport hubs or near roads. Its about speed and surprise and the distractions around which assist. Key for most thieves, is that the victim is distracted often on their phone giving an unfortunate opportunity. For this thief, passers-by were quicker, went to the victim’s aid and apprehended the offender until officers arrived. We treat this kind of offence very seriously.
To protect yourself follow these simple steps to stay safe:
Other News
Whilst on patrol officers have seized a number of vehicles. One driver was seen to be using a mobile phone. Checks were made and it transpired that the driver was uninsured and also had an expired driving licence. The driver was reported for multiple offences and vehicle seized. At one of our ASB hotspots a stolen vehicle from Staffordshire was found. The vehicle has been recovered and is now with forensics. Another two vehicles were seized and drivers reported as they held provisional licences only and had no insurance. Finally, a motorbike failed to stop and was then dumped. Officers seized the motorbike which had been stolen from Nuneaton.
Until next week Stay safe everyone.
