Women’s Safety – StreetSafe Initiative

As the days get shorter and it gets darker earlier, StreetSafe is a service that allows you to report safety concerns in public places without giving us your name (anonymously).

Examples of situations that should be reported to StreetSafe include a poorly lit alleyway that makes you feel unsafe or a park with broken equipment that poses a safety hazard.

This includes issues like poorly lit streets, abandoned buildings, or vandalism, as well as instances where you feel unsafe due to someone following or verbally abusing you.

Please note: StreetSafe is not for reporting crimes or emergencies. If you witness a crime, please report it to us online. If you're unsure whether something is a crime or not, read our advice.

Additionally, there are some simple steps to help you feel and stay safe when out and about please click the link below:

Stick to well-lit, busy routes where possible.

Let a friend or family member know your journey plans if travelling late.

If using public transport, wait in well-lit areas near other people.

Carry a charged phone with you in case you need help.

Trust your instincts – if something doesn’t feel right, move to a safe place.

Report an incident on the bus network by visiting the Metropolitan Police website
