News Update from PCSO Jason Miller |
||
Good afternoon Resident On Sunday PCSO Miller, PCSO Welnitz & PC Domagala from Maidenhead Central Team attended a get together for the New Alley Group at Windrush Way which is led by Jane (front centre) This group of neighbours meet up on a regular basis to help make their area a better place to live with litter picks, improved security & working with each other & with different agencies such as Police & Housing Solutions. Its a great initiative & we look forward to collaborating with the group in 2026.
We would like to extend our condolences to all those affected by last weeks horrific terrorist attack in Manchester against the Jewish community. Local police teams & armed officers from Joint Operations Team are working closely with Maidenhead Synagogue to help reassure the Jewish & wider community, this includes regular patrols & a police presence at events. Hatred will not divide us.
I am currently dealing with a report from an elderly blind & deaf local resident who has reported being terrified whenever she is on the High Street doing her shopping of being hit by cycles, E -scooters & E- bikes being ridden dangerously. Whenever we publicise news of police operations to target this activity we tend to see a split reaction from the community with many comments usually negative stating we should be doing other police work. For those of you that may feel this way, please put yourself in the shoes of this scared local resident. This is exactly why we do these operations (approx once a month) to help keep our community feeling safe, especially those who are vulnerable & perhaps can't hear someone approaching or see someone riding towards them. We will continue to do these operations as long as these incidents are being reported to us. During the day the High Street is a cycle free pedestrian area. E- scooters are not illegal, however they can only be used on public land & can't be insured - if used in public they can & will be seized. Adapted E - bikes are also illegal, these can reach speeds of up to 50mph & are dangerous & can also be seized by police officers.
With the darker nights drawing in earlier & earlier please consider using a timer switch on a light so you are not leaving your home in darkness, this helps give the appearance someone is at home & reduces the chances of being burgled.
