TOWN CENTRE UPDATE
One of the more interesting sides to the Police role is no two days are ever the same, and so it was this week.
Sunday – Town Patrols on foot targeting ASB hotspots but thanks to PC Rain and PC Windy most of the area was uneventful. Monday – CCTV and ongoing investigations to identify some Card Scam victims who were identified amongst other duties. Tuesday - Victims of the scams visited and Crime reports created in conjunction with Action Fraud. Three victims have now been both identified and receiving the appropriate support and investigations ongoing both here and abroad. Wednesday – Town Patrols and further evidence gathering regarding the scams. Night time mobile patrols in the downpours – (note to self – if this rain continues, we’re going to need a bigger car boat !) Thursday – Guarding a scene over towards Loughborough after an assault in large local wooded area there. Back to Melton to continue evening patrols. Friday – Duties included searching for a missing person, covering the Front Enquiry desk for a couple of hours and area patrols all over Melton and surrounding areas. Saturday – Assisted response officers with two assaults that occurred and CCTV recovery. In regard to the Scam jobs the Town Beat officer, PC Baxter, has arranged for an open forum meeting at the British Legion on 15th Oct where both Inspector Richardson, Officers from our Economic Crime Unit and the beat team will be in attendance. They will be offering both tips, advice and answer any questions regarding online and telephone fraud scams. In the meantime…keep ‘em peeled. 😶…if you know you know. 😉
