De Bruce Ward Update |
||
Good Afternoon,
I want to update you with some of the work that has been ongoing on the ward since I became your ward officer back in April this year. One of the issues raised to me back in April was anti social behaviour (ASB) on the ward, in particular with youths causing problems on Miers Avenue such as climbing on the roof of West View Baptist Church and setting small fires. In April there was 45 reports of ASB on the ward.
In response to this we set up a problem solving plan (PSP) which included a set of actions for ourselves and our partner agencies to address with an aim of reducing the ASB in the area. This included increased patrols, target hardening and better youth engagement.
As a result of this work, I am happy to report that between May and September this year there has been a 11.8% reduction in ASB in comparison to the same time last year. We know there is more work to be done to reduce this even further, but we need your help. We need to know what the issues are and who is causing those issues, with this information we can make further plans to reduce ASB even further.
We know that there is still an issue with off road bikes in the area, there has been some positive results lately with several seizures of bikes from identified offenders. As with ASB though, we need the right information in order to tackle this issue even more. We need the help of the community to identify who is riding these bikes and where are they being stored. This information is vital to us, with it, we can use tactical options such as a drone and police powers such as Section 59 Police Reform Act 2002 to seize these bikes and prosecute offenders.
There are several ways you can report this information to us: The team will also be in attendance at your local Councillors Ward Surgery on Saturday 11th October 2025, held between 12:00pm and 1:00pm at Hartlepool Working Mens Club, King Oswy Drive. Pop in and have a chat with us about the issues you are facing.
Thanks PC Chris Harding
