🚨 Community Update – Off-Road Bikes 🚨

The NEDGE Safer Neighbourhood Team are receiving an increasing number of reports and calls about off-road dirt bikes being ridden dangerously around our local area.

We understand the concerns this causes to residents and the potential risk to both the riders and the wider community. Please be assured that we are monitoring this closely and working to address the issue.

We want to remind residents of the law around off-road bikes:

⚖️ The Legal Position

Off-road bikes can only be ridden on private land with the landowner’s permission.

They are not permitted on public roads, footpaths, bridleways, parks, or open spaces.

To be used on a public road, a bike must be road legal – insured, taxed, MOT’d, and ridden by someone with the correct licence and safety equipment.

Riding without meeting these conditions is illegal and may result in the bike being seized under the Police Reform Act.

👮‍♂️ If you see off-road bikes being used in an anti-social or dangerous manner:

Call 999 if there is an immediate danger to the public.

Call 101 or use our online reporting tool if it is not an emergency. Reports can also be sent to opspree@westmercia.police.uk

Provide as much detail as possible (location, description of riders/bikes, times, photos or video if safe to obtain).

Your reports help us build intelligence and take appropriate action.
