Horse Watch Officers join forces! |
||
Today marked the first joint meeting between Nottinghamshire Police, Leicestershire Police, Humberside Police, and Derbyshire Police to discuss equine crime prevention and support for the equine community.
The session brought together officers already engaged or looking to get more involved in initiatives such as mounted volunteer schemes, tack marking, close pass operations, and wider community support. Many of these officers are either riders or owners themselves so are passionate about their local equine community. Nottinghamshire Police were pleased to host the event and hear how other forces are approaching these areas, with the aim of working more closely together, sharing best practice, and creating a more consistent service nationwide. Sergeant Julie Fenton from Humberside Police also joined via Teams to provide an update on their newly launched mounted volunteer scheme. She shared insights into its progress and offered to share resources to help other forces introduce similar schemes in their areas. So please watch this space! We’re doing our best, alongside our busy day-to-day roles, to respond to the needs and challenges horse riders and drivers face as valued members of our rural communities. | ||
