MOTORIST ARRESTED IN WILLINGTON |
||
Last week, (Monday 22 September), police attended a road traffic collision in Willington.
During the incident, police spotted a driver manoeuvring close to the location whilst failing to wear a seat belt.
Officers indicated to the driver to stop, and the vehicle came to a halt near to the Post Office on Castle Way. As the driver exited the car, a strong smell of cannabis emitted from the vehicle.
Because of the cannabis odour, and other intelligence, the driver was requested to cooperate with a roadside drug test. The driver failed to do so, struggled with police, and was arrested.
Local Policing Inspector, Leanne Craig, has made it clear that driving under the influence and assaults on any officer will not be tolerated within our community. Anyone suspected of such offences will thoroughly be investigated.
Inspector Craig says: “This incident highlights the strength of every day collaborative working between our Response Team and Safer Neighbourhood Team.” | ||
