As autumn sets in, Filey is seeing more wet and windy days. These conditions can make driving more hazardous, so please take extra care on the roads to protect yourself and others.

Top Tips for Driving in Wet and Windy Weather:

🌧️ In Wet Conditions:

Slow down: Wet roads reduce grip and increase stopping distances.

Keep your distance: Leave extra space between vehicles.

Use headlights: Improve visibility for yourself and others.

Avoid sudden movements: Brake and steer gently to prevent skidding.

Check your tyres: Ensure good tread depth for better traction.

🌬️ In Windy Conditions:

Hold the wheel firmly: Sudden gusts can push your vehicle off course.

Watch for high-sided vehicles and cyclists: They’re more affected by strong winds.

Be cautious on open roads and bridges: These areas are more exposed to gusts.

Secure loads: Make sure anything on your vehicle is properly tied down.

Stay alert for debris: Fallen branches or other hazards may be on the road.
