Further update on major incident on Middleton Road

Dear residents, 

We wanted to provide an update on the ongoing investigation in Crumpsall.

Counter Terrorism Policing has now named the suspect in relation to the attack as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, and confirmed that three other individuals are currently in custody. 

Two innocent men were sadly pronounced dead following the incident, and three other men remain in hospital with serious injuries. 

We are working to formally identify those who have tragically been killed and provide support to their loved ones, in addition to the injured and the wider community.

We are working to understand the motivation behind the attack as the investigation continues.
