Haggerston Joint Pop Up Event

On Wednesday the 1st of October at Haggerston Square, Haggerston SNT conducted a joint pop up event which brought together the Haggerston Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), the Hackney Council Gangs Team, the Hackney Council Enforcement Team, and the Hackney Council Hate Crime Unit to deliver crime prevention advice focused on weapon enabled crimes, including robberies. The initiative aimed to engage the local community, with a particular emphasis on reaching students from nearby secondary schools. Officers interacted with over 90 individuals, providing practical guidance and raising awareness about personal safety and crime reduction strategies. As part of the event, 43 mobile phones were marked using Selecta DNA , offering an added layer of protection for attendees and helping to deter theft. The collaborative approach not only strengthened relationships between local safer neighborhood team and the community but also demonstrated a shared commitment to tackling crime and promoting safety in Hackney. By working together, these teams reinforced the importance of vigilance and community support in preventing weapon-enabled offences. The event stands as a positive example of partnership working to address local concerns and safeguard residents.
