I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. THURSDAY 2nd OCTOBER 2025
Local ward officers executed a number of simultaneous drug warrants this morning in relation to drugs.
It was a successful warrant that resulted in the seizure of a large amount of Class A & Class B drugs and a number of offensive weapons, which resulted in 3 arrests.
One of the warrants was concluding in Kingston Gate when Kingston Gate & Coombe Hill officers identified an unconnected property and uncovered a large cannabis factory.
The site has now been secured and an investigation will continue.
KNOWING THE SIGNS OF A CANNABIS FACTORY:::
1) Strong odours: Cannabis crops produce potent smells, especially in the final weeks of growth.
2) Covered windows: Curtains drawn up or windows boarded up can indicate a cannabis farm.
3) Excessive security measures: Extra locks, grilles, or CCTV cameras may suggest a grow.
4) Condensation: Constant condensation on windows, especially in summer, is a sign of a greenhouse-like environment.
5) Frequent visitors: Unusual visitors at unsociable hours could indicate a cannabis farm.
6) Plant growing equipment: Equipment like soil, fertiliser, and plant waste being taken in and out of properties.
7) Excessive electricity bills: Sudden spikes or drops in electricity bills may indicate a cannabis farm.
If you notice any of these signs, it is important to report them to the police. They can help prevent the spread of cannabis cultivation and protect the community.
