Patrol Update – Acton Hill

Yesterday, I spent a good portion of my patrol around the Acton Hill area, and I’m pleased to say that our continued presence seems to be having a positive short-term impact. Visibility and engagement remain key, and I’m hopeful that our efforts are being noticed.

One observation I’d like to share with residents: I’ve noticed a number of people kindly leaving unwanted items outside their homes for others to take. While this is clearly done with good intentions, I would gently advise caution. Unfortunately, this can attract individuals who may not have a legitimate reason to be in the area, and it can give others an excuse to loiter or trawl through the streets. While I’m not saying don’t do it, I would suggest thinking carefully about how and when these items are left out.

That said, it was a lovely walk, and the highlight—as always—was meeting new residents and having positive conversations. I’ve also been speaking directly to individuals who shouldn’t be in the area, making it clear that they need to stay away. Hopefully, that message is getting through.
