Supporting vulnerable neighbours too scared of being scammed to go on-line |
||
Form Philip Virgo as Development Lead for Neighbourhood Watch in Lambeth
One of the most common priorities for Neighbourhood Watch participants is to help support vulnerable neighbours who are too scared of being scammed to go on. As a part of the build up to the launch of the Association to support Neighbourhood Watch in Lambeth we have been able to organise a “Digital Horizons” event at WeAre336 on Tuesday 7th October 2pm-5pm In partnership with ClearCommunityWeb
This is an afternoon of talks and community information to help Lambeth residents feel safer and more connected online, managing your health online, being more confident in spotting and dealing with Scams as well as knowing how to access digital support across the Borough.
It is to help celebrate and support the International Day of Older People, Lambeth's commitment to be an Age Friendly Borough and Cyber Awareness Month.
The range of talks include The event will also be an opportunity for participants to hear about Neighbourhood Watch initiative and connect with community stalls.
Tickets on Eventbrite are available here but we are keeping some spaces free as we know that not everyone can access EventBrite and we would like to keep this event open to all that will benefit.
This is already in demand so if you know of anyone who would like to attend, encourage them to book as soon as practical. If you/they cannot attend or the event is fully booked, those who join the waiting list will be sent all the resources and presentations by e-mail.
We are also looking to volunteers to help with: Please reply to this Alert if you are available to help, have any questions or would like to help with forward plans for Neighbourhood Watch in Lambeth, including more events like this, safer travel to and from school/work, youth engagement, speed/road watch, recruiting your street/estate and/or other activities.
