Man charged with vehicle theft and attempted burglary

A man has been charged with vehicle theft and attempted burglary offences following separate incidents in Tamworth and Lichfield.

Ashley West, 31, of Grendon, Warwickshire, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal. 

It comes after reports of two attempted burglaries in Tamworth and Whittington on 25 August and the theft of a BMW i4 in Tamworth on 16 August. 

West appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday (30 September) and has been remanded ahead of his next appearance at Stafford Crown Court on 31 October. 

By working proactively to tackle burglary in Staffordshire, we were able to reduce the number of associated crimes by 27 per cent when compared to the year before (August 2024 to August 2025).
