Knife arrest- Woolwich |
||
On FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2025 whilst driving go work in the WOOLWICH area, PC THIND saw two males who she recognised, one of the males known to be a high risk missing child from Bedfordshire. Being aware he was a high risk missing person she decided to follow them. She turned the car around to see where they were both going. PC Thind then saw them board a bus so she phoned a colleague- PC Jones who put the call up on the radio. PC Thind stayed on the phone to PC JONES to give him regular updates of where they were going.
PC Thind followed the bus whilst updating PC JONES. The bus turned into the bus hub at GENERAL GORDON SQUARE. PC Thind parked behind the bus and then noticed a marked police vehicle behind her. PC Thind got out her vehicle and told the officers that the missing child was on the bus and was likely to run. As she said this she saw him get off the back door of the bus. She pointed him out to the officers and he immediately began to run off. He was chased by PC Thind and the uniformed officers. PC Thind clearly saw him take what she believed to be a knife in a sheath from his trousers waistband and throw it towards a bush. PC Thind stopped by where the knife was discarded, while PC Robberts and PC Webster detained the child on the floor. He was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon. PC Thind should be commended for her bravery chasing a male who was likely to be in possession of a weapon and who was at risk being a high risk missing person without being in possession of her person protection equipment. The child was charged with possession of an offensive weapon. This action by an off duty officer on the way to work should be recognised and going well above and beyond what is expected. This is the seconded incident of a similar nature where PC Thind has followed and detained and high risk missing person to ensure safeguarding whilst off duty. | ||
