Burglary Crime Prevention Advice Ahead of Diwali, Navratri and Christmas |

In the lead up to Diwali, Navratri, and Christmas, we would like to remind residents to take extra care with home security and we are issuing Burglary prevention advice to residents.
As we head into autumn and winter there can be an increase in burglaries, We often see an increase in burglaries at this time of year with Diwali just around the corner and in the lead up to Christmas. Offenders know that residents will have valuable gold in their homes and will be out and about at various festivities over the coming days and weeks, leaving homes unoccupied, so we are urging residents to be mindful of their home security to help reduce the risk of falling victim to this type of crime.
This advice is for everyone — not only those celebrating Diwali and Navratri. It is a good time for all residents to review home security.
Why this is important Nationally, police forces see a rise in burglaries and gold thefts at this time of year. Families of South Asian heritage may be particularly targeted, as gold jewellery is often worn and displayed during cultural celebrations.
