I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti Social Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Police have been working hard to tackle anti-social behaviour, catch criminals and prevent crime in Stevenage Town Centre. I am glad to state that we have some good work to detail below;
Further Hotspot patrols have been conducted through Stevenage Town Centre, whereby officers are giving up their rest days to come to work and keep the streets safe. We thank those who give up their time to help with this operation.
A total of four E-scooters have been seized for no insurance and one illegally modified E-bike for the same offence. Just a reminder that an E-bike which goes over 15.5mph or has an output of over 250 Watts is classed as a mechanically propelled vehicle and would need a licence and insurance to ride.
Two drivers have been reported for intended prosecution at DANESTRTE outside the council offices for their manner of driving. One male was reported for Driving Without due Care and Attention and another male was reported for Contravening a Pedestrianised Walkway. This is after various complaints from members of the public who have stated to us that there has been anti-social driving in the area. You said, we did!
An Anti-Social Behaviour advise stand had been completed by PC's and PCSO's outside the council building on 25/09/2025. We had the privilege to speak to members of the public who both wanted to voice any concerns that they may have regarding ASB as well as providing crime prevention advise.
PCSO's had conducted a Bike Marking Event on 26/09/2025 at Event Island (Old Bus Stop). More bikes have been marked which makes them easier to recover should they be stolen and easier to identify offenders. If you have a pedal bike and would like to add it to our database, please let us know and further stands can be created in the future.
Two suspects have been arrested for various offences in Stevenage Town Centre on 26/09/2025. One male was arrested for False Imprisonment, Modern Day Slavery, Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (ABH), Common Assault, X2 S4a Public Order Act, Having in Possession of a Pointed or Bladed Article (A knife was found on him after arrest) and Possession of a Class B drug. The second male was arrested for Possession With Intent to Supply a Class A drug and Possession of a class B drug.
 Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.herts.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
