Weekly round up Stoke&Wyken. |
||
Dear Residents and Local Businesses, here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, Stoke and Wyken. This week, local police officers have been actively tackling the area’s top priorities of retail theft, speeding, and antisocial behaviour in parks. High-visibility patrols were carried out in and around key shopping areas.
Traffic units set up speed checks along known hotspots, issuing warnings and penalties to drivers exceeding limits in an effort to keep roads safer for residents. In local parks, neighbourhood officers engaged directly with young people and dispersed nuisance groups where necessary, balancing enforcement with support by signposting individuals to youth services. Their continued presence has helped reassure the community while sending a clear message that these issues are being taken seriously.
As the nights grow longer and the holiday season approaches, the likelihood of theft, including car crimes and burglaries, may increase. We urge you to ensure that your vehicles are securely locked by checking the door handles and refraining from leaving any valuable items, whether expensive or sentimental, inside. Additionally, it is crucial to lock all doors and windows on both the lower and upper floors of your home whenever you leave, even for short periods.

Nature watch Nature watching has gained significant traction recently, with many individuals eager for updates on local wildlife in the Coventry area. We invite you to share any sightings you may have, and this week, we focus on the muntjac deer having being reported being spotted by a local resident in and around Wyken croft nature park. These small, non-native deer, which originated from China, have established a presence in Coventry, frequently inhabiting woodland areas such as Coombe Abbey Park, the woodlands along Kenilworth Road, and Brandon Marsh, as well as local parks and gardens. Muntjac deer are known for their surprising adaptability to human environments, making them a fascinating subject for nature enthusiasts. We are grateful for the messages we have received and for the opportunity to connect with many of you during our patrols. If you have any updates related to this matter, please share them with us, and we will ensure that the information reaches the wider community of nature enthusiasts.
