Local crime Below is a snapshot of the vehicle crime and burglaries that have been recorded in the Shirley East area between the 19th September to 27th September 2025.
Burglaries: Nothing reported.
Vehicle crime. On 22nd September and 23rd September 2025 a Yamaha bike was posted for sale from Green hill Way for sale on Facebook. The seller has given a prospective buyer her address. The following morning the bike was stolen from the address.
On 26th September at 05.45 two males have approached a vehicle -VW POLO on the driveway on Ralph Road. They have tried the door handle and triggered the alarm which has caused them to run off.
Crime prevention advice: - Be careful on using Facebook and giving out your address. - Don’t leave valuable items on show inside your vehicle. Even loose change can be appealing to vehicle offenders. - Consider installing anti-snap locks to all external windows and doors on your home. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent. Try to make the front and rear of your property as well-lit as possible by installing motion activated lighting. - CCTV is a great deterrent for offenders. This can also be crucial in linking criminals to multiple crimes. - Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. Installing an immobiliser and covert tracking device will also increase the chance of getting your vehicle back should it be stolen.

Local news - Home Office funding is provided to West Midlands Police to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in areas that are identified as having a high rate of these incidents. As a result, local officers have been conducting targeted patrols in these locations, with the aim of providing a visible presence, engaging with the local community and deterring this type of behaviour. When your local Officers are off duty, these patrols are conducted by policing teams from other areas, ensuring that there is continual coverage. Officers record the results of these patrols and the information is then returned to the home office. Your local officers have been hard at work conducting these patrols, so please feel welcome to have a chat when you see us. - Shirley officers have now trained volunteers for a brand-new Shirley Speedwatch group. This group, along with officers from our team, will be conducting Speedwatch operations in the local area to monitor reports of speeding. This data can then be used for speed enforcement in the future. -We are actively speaking to beggars and issuing Community Protection Warning letters which may lead to them arrested if they fail to adhere to the conditions. - We are conducting foot patrols in and around main shopping areas of Shirley to detect and deter prolific shoplifters who are causing serious issues for both retailers and members of the public, causing alarm and fear. - On 26th September Shirley officers have seized a vehicle for; No tax/MOT or insurance from Palmers Close Shirley. In the next few weeks Street Watch and Community Officers will be posting / handing out leaflets to residents who prefer not to participate in Halloween. Practically for some residents who find the night stressful.
