Halesfield Car Cruising

Car cruising events or street racing could be moving to Shropshire from other parts of the West Midlands due to injunctions banning them in those places. Over recent months, Telford Police have experienced an increase in vehicle cruising and meets within the Halesfield area of South Telford. 

There are currently no court orders prohibiting them in the Telford and Wrekin area and some drivers are using the M54 to travel to Telford. Councils in the Black Country and Staffordshire have introduced injunctions in their areas after complaints about street racing. while some drivers respect local residents, meet up causing minimal noise and are there to show off their vehicles to others and not race within the area however reports have come to light regarding anti-social driving.

 There have been several organised gatherings recently, on retail parks areas and industrial estates. Halesfield, Stafford Park and also Hortonwood have experienced an increase in vehicles, sometimes up to 80 cars have been meeting.

We have found that many of these meets are very peaceful, but then we're also getting groups of vehicles that are coming into the county from outside the Force area- unfortunately speeding and driving anti-socially.

If residents witness these types of driving and or car cruising within the area, we would kindly encourage that you email coi.snt@westmercia.police.uk with any dash cam footage of vehicles racing or any other footage where appropriate and the local policing team will deal with those involved accordingly.
