Burbage Police Weekly Update. Suspicious Male, Cannabis, Arrest And Darker Nights. |
||
Hello Resident,
Here is an update for Burbage this week. I have added a few links which are relevant to recent issues, and are well worth a read to reduce the risk of you becoming a victim of crime over the coming months.
Reported Crime and Appeals
We have received 63 calls to Police regarding Burbage incidents. 14 of these calls were emergency and 12 were priority calls. The bulk of these calls were transport related and domestic incidents.
No reports of residential burglary or vehicle thefts, which continues to be good news.
Report of a suspicious male on Grove Road between 09:45-09:50 on the 24th of September. We received this information on the 25th where it was reported a child was spoken to by an unknown male in a car. If you have any information on this incident, please get in touch. We have been in the area speaking to parents and staff, no further information has been identified. 25000565359 darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Reports of Cannabis use from residential addresses in Burbage. We address these complaints by completing actions such as home visits or door to door in the area. We work with Hinckley Council to challenge this type of behaviour and follow up work such as safeguarding reports (if there are children at the address) is also completed. Issues of this nature can be reported here Report antisocial behaviour | Leicestershire Police
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have spent time around Burbage Infants and Juniors, speaking to staff, local residents and parents. Whilst investigating the above report, we have also been addressing traffic issues which includes trying to work with the school to reduce issues around parking. Driving whilst using a mobile phone outside the school has also been brought to our attention. I am sure it does not need me to remind people how ridiculous this action is. If you have Dashcam of these types of offences, you can submit an online report with footage via this link Report a road traffic incident | Leicestershire Police
Whilst on patrols, officers have completed stop checks, locations include Lutterworth Road and Lychgate lane where a male was arrested under the misuse of drugs act, the vehicle was also recovered under S165, no license.
We have also been completing partnership working with HBBC to address neighbour issues, Cannabis and youth related issues.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
As we approach the darker nights, please be mindful around home security, shed security and vehicle crime. DO NOT leave items in vehicles such as tools, laptops and bank cards. These types of items are often targeted during the darker nights by opportunistic criminals. Please ensure sheds are locked and secure using padlocks and alarms.
There have been several reports where residents have fallen victim to scams over recent weeks. One of these reports include Facebook advertisements which turned out to be a scam. Please be mindful around online offers, advertisements, and emails as we approach Christmas. If it is too good to be true, it is. Please see this link to keep yourself secure when online shopping. Thank you and take care.
