OP Ratio - Do you own a Motorbike and live in the Canterbury district? : Fri 26 Sep 16:00 |
||
Dear Resident, We are pleased to inform you about a new initiative by Canterbury Community Safety Unit aimed at reducing motorcycle theft in the Canterbury District. As part of this initiative, we are giving away a number of Chipolo GPS tracking tags to motorcycle owners within the district. These tags are designed to help you keep track of your motorcycle's location and provide an additional layer of security. Kent Police will NOT independently have access to any data in the use of this device or associated app. Motorcycle and motor scooter owners will be able to keep their vehicles more secure from theft thanks to work by Kent Police in the Canterbury district. As part of the initiative, officers are giving away over 400 tracking tags to motorcycle owners across the district in a bid to help owners quickly establish their motorcycle's location and provide an additional layer of security should the vehicle be stolen. The devices are compact, water-resistant Bluetooth trackers which use apps for locating lost items. This live data will be valuable to the officers investigating thefts of motorcycles equipped with trackers, leading to their swift location of and any potential arrests. Officers are holding safety and engagement events across the district. These will be on Friday 26th September in Victoria Recreation Ground Car park at 16:00-17:30, Hales Place St Stephens Centre, Tenterden Drive 18:00-19:30.
Members of the public will be able to attend with their vehicle, and officers will be on hand to talk them through the setup process. Staff will run a series of checks to confirm validity to enter the scheme including insurance, an address registered to the district, and a valid licence. | ||
